You mean that the way God create all of creation is the exact now as they were back then?
All creatures have adapted to whatever environment they are a part of.

@Joseph Louthan: Adaptation is completely different than (macro) evolution. Adaptation is micro evolution, and does not produce a change in species (ie. reptile to bird, bovine to whale, simian to man, etc.)
Adaptation to an environment is something that has to have been built into the original animal's genetic code at the point of creation. Then, when you consider things like the effects of sin on all creation, there are imperfections that arise that cause mutations, defect, etc. Those that are incapable of adapting, for whatever reason, eventually become extinct.
Plus, since you bring it up, the term "back then," that opens up a whole other line of debate. I'm one who holds to an absolute literal reading of Genesis, and so I don't buy into the millions/billions of years theories.
Let me just say, before this convo. goes on any further, I'm not out to change anyone's mind, and I'll admit I'm pretty closed-minded on this issue. We can still discuss it, but I would hate for it to turn into a never ending debate.
I know I'm in a growing minority that is seen as ignorant, and I'm ok with that. ;)
@Craig: I wonder how many times you heard me say that phrase as we traveled across all those states? Good times.
