This sounds like a fine idea but do you (and all the other bloggers out there) really have time for all this??

@Chris: Quite honestly, I will have to shift some other things in my life around, but they are things that are frivolous in nature. What better shifting of activities than to make more time for studying Scripture? I'm getting pretty close to never watching television anymore except for news, so I think I might be onto something. ;)

Jeff - I hope my comment didn't come off as flippant or disrespectful. It would be much easier if everyone just disabled comments :)

I guess I'm just thinking about how much time we give to this stuff. Of course there's nothing wrong with studying scripture and spend more time in the word but is adding one more THING to our blog life really that valuable?

Part of the reason of why I blog is for the resourcing and the community but I also know that those who are trying to facilitate community (the ones mentioned in your post and others) are gaining great benefit from all of us linking back to their sites on a very frequent basis.

Again, not flippant or sour grapes - just trying to see where all of this is going.

@Chris: No, you didn't come across flippant to me in the least. I think your question is very valid, and I one we should all ask ourselves. This whole blogging community thing could easily turn into a monster of gigantic proportion if we don't place margins on ourselves.

The thing I'm really liking about the growing community is the way we can speak into one another's lives. Finding a group to study Scripture with in such a way really appeals to me, and it will keep me from doing other things that are not as beneficial.

All that being said, I know eventually this whole thing will get to the point where the return on investment it is a negative. That's the point at which I hope I recognize the fault and reign myself in.

Hey Chris, I hope I can jump in this conversation. I completely agree with you. Or at least most the way. As a blogger, it definitely takes up a lot of time that I could be building his kingdom more, or doing something just more productive in general.

Honestly, the reason this small group has been created is so that while we are blogging, we can have something purposeful to blog about. It will give us a reason to step away from the blog, and read. Once we do read and study the Word, we can then bring it back here, and share with our readers. it's an investment that goes farther than just reading a blog and commenting. It allows us to grow spiritually and emotionally. In Christ, and in a community.

And again i want you to know that I understand what you're saying, and I also did not take it offensively.

    Be blessed.
