Two things -
1. It's encouraging to hear you say that you're "only" 4 1/2 years in. That's cool.
2. Can you tell us the story of last Sunday??
Not a huge story to tell. There were a lot of really cool personal testimonies and great intimate times of fellowship, but some of that was probably brought about by the smaller crowd.
I'll just leave it with this: Imagine having a crowd in attendance that was about 50% of your average attendance, and bringing in a record offering. Not that we're judging success by counting coins, but what's up with that? The total amount was incredibly unreal, especially in light of gas prices and such.
Just read your blog posting... Man. Been in that places many a times.
Hear ya completely on that one. The only way to get people to connect with the work of the Holy Spirit in worship is often to get out of the way. As a WL, we feel obligated to polish the set up... get in our licks... and have those tight transitions to get us from the first to the last. So many times I stand up there and lead and look out and let Satan remind me that they are not worshipping... that they're paying attention to the time than the Lord... hahaha - a little chuckle from him while it runs through my head. No Satan, you won't have a place in my thoughts. Cause he doesnt want anyone to be caught worshipping the Creator and King.
But when I commit the songs and the people to the Lord, what a burden is lifted knowing it's always HIS ministry that He has called me to. Share some versus and your heart on how the Lord spoke to you for that week. I have found when I am transparent, they go to that holy place and they dont doubt where I (with the guidance of the HS) take them knowing it's the Lord doing the leading. I just want to keep encouraging you brother. The Lord needs more people with a genuine heart and care for His people. Not playing for a show, but for HIS glory. Amen!
