@anne jackson: heh, no pressure. I'm not really sure there will be a full-fledged part 2, as much as just continuing my thoughts on the matter from week to week like I usually do.

I do think I have a little more to say specifically on the issue based on a Psalm I studied just last night, so we'll see.

Brent, glad to know I do make sense sometimes.

Sean, I see what you mean about the statement you dislike. I think what I'm trying to say there is directed at the person who never or rarely worships throughout the week. This would likely be someone who has the myopic view that worship is only something that takes place on Sunday morning. I assure you, I've had weeks like that, and the corporate action on a Sunday morning helped jerk me back into place. But, it is contingent upon me to keep up my relationship with Christ throughout the week, not just for one hour on Sunday.

I'm still not sure I've said all I wanted to say on this, but I had to cut it off somewhere. Not saying there will be a part 2, because my entire blog is really about this issue in the first place. I'm constantly trying to find another way to better say what I'm thinking.

Piggy backing something that Sean just said regarding,

I think as a leader that I believe with this statemnet. But not for those in the congregation, I see Sean's point. I think of it from the leaders perspective. I don't believe a leader can lead someone to a place they've never been. I believe that those on stage will only take others as far or as deep as they have been themselves. The weekend should be an outpouring of the prior weeks life from the leader.

Awesome post. You presented everything well and I believe I understood everything how you meant to say it.

I really like how you wrote about our worship services and how it isn't a bad thing to create an environment where people can feel comfortable and feel like they don't have to be a christian to go. I've invited so many people to go to church and they said they didn't want to go because they weren't a christian, or a member. That can't happen.

I didn't agree so much how you said that the one that hasn't lived their week worshiping God isn't worshiping during the service. I've spent weeks not really living this thing out and Sunday came and I did worship, and I did experience the presence of God. But this thing we call "the motions", that has to be empty worship.

And your post didn't seem that long while I read it!

Lots to chew on and think through, but I think you nailed it. Our God looks on the heart. He only disapproves of our worship when our heart is wrong.

"You see, this is where church differs from just some night club down the street. The production values may be similar, but the heart values are completely different."

I love this phrase!
